In recent years, although the “bottleneck” restriction of chips in some manufacturing areas in China is being eased, it still depends on a large number of imports each year.

The government work report proposes to speed up the building of strong manufacturing countries and to deploy industries such as integrated circuits and fifth-generation mobile communications. How to fundamentally crack the chip "bottleneck", on behalf of members and industry insiders have offered advice and suggestions.

The chip restrictions have eased. The current situation of massive imports remains unchanged.

For a long time, core components such as the "ballpoint pen tip" were once missing, the mobile phone camera was dominated by foreign manufacturers, and the price of memory chips was fluctuating by the market... Chips have become the "bottleneck" restricting the development of China's manufacturing sector.

Thankfully, after many years of investment, this issue has gradually eased: the gap between the "nuclear high base" program and foreign countries has been shortened from more than 15 years to five years, and a number of core electronic devices have long been reliant on imported "cockpit" issues. Relieved, some Chinese companies in the field of artificial intelligence chips are showing global standards...

"My team and I have undertaken the national "Starlight China Core Project" and our self-developed chip has succeeded in occupying about 60% of the world's market for computer image input chips," said Deng Zhonghan, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the "Starlight China Core Project."

The development of the chip industry is inseparable from the country’s attention and investment. Since 2014, China has successively promulgated the “Outline for Promoting the Development of the National IC Industry”, established a national integrated circuit industry investment fund, increased the investment in the integrated circuit industry, and significantly increased the self-sufficiency rate of integrated circuits, effectively alleviating the constraints.

“Why is it now felt that technological innovation has come to the rescue? It is mainly a collective breakthrough in IT innovation capabilities, some technological changes, automated manufacturing, digitalization, networking, and intelligent rapid iterative development.” CPPCC National Committee member, China Electronics Society Secretary-General Xu Xiaolan said.

Deng Zhonghan said that although China has made breakthroughs in some areas of the integrated circuit industry, it still lags behind. "The current status of large-scale chip imports has not yet undergone fundamental changes."

The core technology and chips are the "Gate of Life" of various types of intelligent information systems. Although domestic chips are already available on many products, high-end chips or equipment are still rare.



"The Chinese chip industry should be deeply integrated with the world." Li Dongsheng said, for example, the use of the national "Belt and Road Initiative" to accelerate innovation cooperation with countries along the route. At present, TCL is ready to cooperate with Israel and other countries along the Belt and Road initiative for technology introduction and innovation.
