With regard to IC design, as the global market share of mobile phone processors by Taiwanese manufacturers rises, together with the increasing demand for wireless networking chips, TDDI chips and other chips by Taiwanese manufacturers, the output value of Taiwan's IC design industry will grow by 6.2% annually and reach NT$579.8 billion. With the rise of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IOT) applications, non-3C IC applications in Taiwan's IC design industry are growing year by year. In addition, the diversification of non-3C product chip specifications attracts IC designers to provide AISC design services. It is expected that the business model will be diversified in 2019. In the second half of 2018, due to a slower demand for miners, Wafer OEMs forecasts a full-year growth of about 6.4%, with a production value of NT $1.2 trillion. Looking forward to 2019, with the production of TSMC 7 + process, the proportion of advanced process in Taiwan is expected to further increase in the future, and the growth rate is estimated to reach 8-10% in 2019.
In the memory sector, MIC said that thanks to rising market prices, Taiwan's memory industry will grow by 25% in 2018, with an output value of NT$205.3 billion. Looking ahead to 2019, DRAM processes will move to 1x and 1y nanometers, and Flash capacity will continue to increase, with declining memory prices expected to hit Taiwanese factories. In the sealing and testing industry, although the market growth of smart portable devices is limited, with the increasing demand for high-speed computing chips, it will promote the utilization of related high-level packaging capacity and then drive the industry scale. It is estimated that the output value of Taiwan IC sealing test industry will grow by 8.3% in 2018 compared with that in 2017, and the output value will reach 474 billion 900 million NT dollars. Looking ahead to 2019, the market demand for high-end packaging is expected to remain strong and the overall packaging industry in Taiwan is expected to grow by about 7%.
