The RISC-V processor architecture is supported by more well-known companies in the industry. About  80 companies, including Google, Samsung and Qualcomm, will jointly  develop new RISC-V chip designs for applications such as self-driving  cars. RISC-V is an original open source instruction set architecture  based on RISC. Allowing anyone to design, manufacture, and  sell RISC-V chips and software, with equal performance and lower cost  and energy consumption, makes it attractive to businesses.

Both  Western Digital and Nvidia are also planning to use RISC-V in some of  their products, and Tesla joined the RISC-V Foundation to consider using  this open source technology.

The Linux kernel has added preliminary support for the RISC-V architecture.
