Hua Hong Semiconductor Co., Ltd. today announced the successful mass production of its second-generation 90-nm G2 eFlash process platform with enhanced technical strength and competitiveness.


Based on the accumulation of the first generation of 90nm G1 eFlash process technology, Huahong Semiconductor has implemented various technological improvements on the 90nm G2 eFlash process platform. The 90nm G2 miniaturizes the Flash cell size, which is 25% less than that of the first generation, making it the smallest size embedded flash technology in the 90nm process node of the global foundry. In addition, the 90nm G2 incorporates a new Flash IP design architecture that delivers a very small area of low-power Flash IP while ensuring high reliability (100,000 writes and 25 years of data retention). As a result, the 90 nm G2 eFlash can significantly reduce overall chip area, resulting in more die on a single wafer, especially for chip products with high-capacity eFlash. It is worth mentioning that, 90nm G2 eFlash in the first generation based on the reduction of a layer of mask, making the manufacturing cost is lower.
